I have been
making jewelry since
somewhere around 1978.
I created all the pieces on this page since 2020.
They’re all sterling silver with the occasional
gold accent and turquoise many of which I cut myself.
On most of these pieces, the goal was to NOT
look like Native American design.
Some of these were custom designs for a client
and many are already sold, but there are some in stock.
You can check out my work at Blue Heron Gallery
in Depoe Bay.
If you’re interested in a piece of jewelry,
whether something that’s already made up or
having a custom design piece just send me an email at
info@foxfirejewelers.com.
For a longer explanation of how I’m making
turquoise jewelry these days read the longer story
at the very bottom of the page.
Thanks for looking!
I started making jewelry at a
young age
somewhere around 18 to 20.
Way back then I did do a little work with turquoise
and certainly in that particular skill set.
But then I graduated to doing fine jewelry
which means luscious colored gemstones diamonds,
18 and 14 karat gold and platinum
and learned a lot of advanced techniques along the way.
I had a fine jewelry store
Foxfire Jewelers for over 30 years
and later actually opened a couple more stores
that were called Things Rich and Strange.
The pandemic actually closed my last door in 2020
and I was left with no real reason to make
the kind of jewelry that I had made before.
(Although I still do lots of Custom Designs online.)
A little bit of time on my hands and I realize
that I had some turquoise I had bought
maybe 20-25 years before at the Indian jewelry
supply in Albuquerque New Mexico.
Why did I buy it? Who knows I had no use for it
whatsoever until… 2020.
So for fun and to keep from going stir crazy
I started making these pieces in turquoise
and I really fell in love with it.
